After the death of their oldest brother, Adam, at the hands of a defective Apera, Einzig appointed Samuel as the new head, and transferred his older brother, Andrew, to be his assistant. Even though he worked days and most nights on the ARMAGEDDON project, when positions for research chief were opened for the NEW DEUS project, which occurred upon the discovery of an ancient coffin radiating chaos energy, Samuel was one of the first to volunteer.

It has been noted by some of his staff numbers that Samuel has appeared almost cold to Apera, even though as per Federation laws she had been given personality programs to better relate her to humans.

Samuel is uncharacteristically well built for being a researcher, despite him having to use glasses. Is a martial artist by nature, having studied in a variety of styles since his early tweens. He is developed in so many styles, however, that he has never managed to go beyond the brown belt. His range of expertise, however, more than makes up for it.
